Morne- Asylum double LP $16.00

Entitled 'Asylum', this Boston, Massachusetts contingent have been known (in their somewhat-short career) to create some of the heaviest, most absorbing, and overwhelming sounds in heavy music today. Sounds that mirror the vibe bands like Neurosis had back in their 'Souls At Zero' and 'Enemy Of The Sun' days. Formed by Milosz Gassan (ex-Filth Of Mankind) in 2005 (Morne also features ex-Grief guitarist Jeff Hayward amongst its ranks), it didnít take long for Morne to become a notable force within the modern-day crust, punk, and hardcore movement, and naturally comparisons to classic Neurosis would surface as Morneís sound would also inevitably cross over into doom and post metal territories respectively. Nonetheless, 'Asylum' is Morneís heaviest, most atmospheric and cinematic sonic offering to date. While still maintaining the bandís crust, hardcore, and post-metal leanings, 'Asylum' sees the band delve more into genres such as progressive metal and classic Ď70s prog rock, as well as neo-classical chamber (Kris Force of Amber Asylum once again makes a guest appearance, this time being accompanied by Jarboe on the albumís closing track ĎVolitioní) classic Ď80s post-punk (i.e. Joy Division, Cure) and some influence from classic art rock (i.e. Swans, Fields Of The Nephilhim)."
