POSITRON - Deadalive 7"
Members of New York bands THE MALADJUSTED and AWKWARD THOUGHT join together for a short-lived side project whose goal was to belt out some hardcore punk in the New York City tradition that lies somewhere between the mid to the late 1980's. MURPHY'S LAW, WARZONE, and SIDE BY SIDE all come to mind as point of reference.

Positron started as a side project for ex and current members of Westchester, New York bands the Maladjusted and Awkward Thought in 1998 as an excuse to play more music, specifically in the style of New York City's 1980's hardcore punk bands. Originally a four piece with Jeff on vocals, Rusty on drums, Adam on bass, and Rich on guitar, the band shed their singer Jeff to play as a three piece with drummer Rusty doubling up on vocal duties (Husker Du style). The band easily found a home at ABC No Rio on the Lower East Side of Manhatten due to their fun loving approach to New York Hardcore and very competent musicianship. Unfortunately, the band only lasted long enough to produce the six song Deadalive 7" EP on MATW and broke up after playing just a few shows. After breaking up, Rich wound up leaving both Positron and Awkward Though to go to school at the Rhode Island School of Design, Adam helped form Bombs Away, and Rusty joined Awkward Thought on guitar to fill Rich's slot.
